The ADG team was selected to continue the expansion of an existing public tennis center at Will Rogers Park. The City of Oklahoma City and the long-time operator of the tennis center had raised the funds necessary to add nine outside tennis courts and six indoor tennis courts to the existing center that is available for league play, recreation, teaching and tournaments.
Three full-size outdoor courts, three junior courts and three child-size courts were added amongst the center’s existing area. A 40,000-square-foot indoor tennis facility was added that includes six full-size courts, restrooms and support space. The indoor facility is a membrane fabric with a steel structure, reinforced concrete slab and spread footings. The tennis courts themselves, are engineered post-tension concrete slab, following the industry standards for flatness and durability. All interior lights are LEDs, balanced for continuously-bright light levels across the large indoor space. Construction duration was five months.
Along with architecture and interior design, ADG provided mechanical engineering for major campus utility upgrades as part of phase two, the indoor courts. ADG provided civil engineering for extensive site grading. Green Spring Solutions was the team’s consultant on the membrane structure for the indoor courts. The team’s landscape and recreation consultant, PDG, designed the landscape and hardscape improvements across the site.
