Mustang Public Schools purchased a 27,000-square-foot former nursing home, to create an education center—a place for gifted and talented education, alternate education and a large pre-kindergarten program. The four existing wings of the building worked well to separate the grade levels. What were once double-occupancy resident rooms became large classrooms.
The neglected building was brought back to life with vibrant color and durable interior finishes. The floor pattern, for example, helps a young child remember which classroom is hers: red corridor, blue classroom.
A new large reception desk serves as security central and is adjacent to the administrative offices.
