ADG designed free-standing cancer centers on the existing hospital campuses at Jackson County Memorial Hospital and Duncan Regional Hospitals. The buildings are each approximately 9,000 square feet with a single vault. The goal was to mesh with the existing campus’ architectural elements.
Pictured above is the cancer care center in Altus. The facility provides medical oncology spaces and radiation therapy with new linear accelerator vaults, exam rooms, a lab draw station and support spaces.
For chemotherapy, flexible infusion rooms are furnished with comfortable chairs. Patients can be distracted by the large television displays or the calming fountain in the lush garden outside. Infusion rooms offer privacy curtains with insulated wood partition walls between the “cubes” for sound dampening.. Patients who prefer socialization or support from other patients can leave the cubicle curtains open.
